The ink tanks themselves are stationary in the body, and are connected to the block of printheads by a flexible pipe. As a result, the speed of movement of the heads is significantly increased and, at the same time, high positioning accuracy is ensured. Also, this separation allows you to fully use the ink supply. If one of the containers runs out of ink, then it can be replaced with a new one without interrupting printing. A similar layout was used in large format plotters.
