Samsung held its third major online showcase this year, featuring the Galaxy Book Odyssey gaming laptop, the Galaxy Book office laptop, and the thin and light Galaxy Book Pro and Pro 360. All of them can launch up to five applications on their screen from a tethered Galaxy smartphone, instantly connect to Galaxy Buds wireless headphones, and also use Samsung tablets as an additional monitor. The gamer model features a 15.6-inch Full HD LCD display and 11th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processors with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Max-Q or 3050Ti Max-Q graphics. The maximum amount of DDR4x RAM is up to 32GB, and there is an SSD storage up to 1TB for data storage. The laptop received powerful speakers with Dolby Atoms support,
a finger scanner integrated into the power button, a high-speed Wi-Fi 6 adapter and gigabit Ethernet. The set of ports is as follows: three USB 3.5, a pair of USB-C, HDMI, a microSD card slot and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The Galaxy Book has the same screen, finger scanner and speakers, but more options for processors – added configurations for Core i3, Pentium Gold and Celeron. Graphics are expectedly simpler – either Iris X (in the case of the i5 / i7), or UHD Graphics or GeForce MX450. They also showed the Galaxy Book Pro laptop and the Galaxy Book Pro 360 transformer with a hinged cover. Both are equipped with OLEDs with Full HD-resolution and will be available in two sizes – 13.3 and 15.6 inches. They also run on 11th Gen Intel processors with Iris X graphics or the optional GeForce MX450 for larger models. The maximum amount of RAM is up to 32 GB, SSD-drive – up to 1 TB. The Galaxy Book Pro 360 is equipped with a 5G modem and supports the included S Pen, while the Galaxy Book Pro only has an LTE modem. Both models got AKG speakers with Dolby Atoms, 65W fast charging and USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4.
The presentation, which promised to show “the most powerful Galaxy”, was dedicated to laptops, as expected. In total, four models were shown: the thin Galaxy Book Pro, its convertible version Pro 360, the base Galaxy Book (2021) and the gaming Galaxy Book Odyssey.
Galaxy Book Odyssey с RTX 3050
The gaming model features a 15.6-inch LCD screen (likely VA), 11th Gen Intel processors, and a choice of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 or RTX 3050 It graphics cards.
Officially, these accelerators have not yet been announced, so details about the performance and details of the specifications of the video cards were not named at the presentation or in the press materials.
The laptop weighs 1.85 kg and is less than 18 mm thin – it is more of a thin business laptop with increased performance than a powerful gaming “monster” like those produced by Lenovo, ASUS, HP and others.
Galaxy Book Pro with AMOLED screen
Pro models differ only in design and port selection – the standard and 360 versions have the same internal equipment. Both models run on 11th Gen Intel Core with integrated Iris Xu graphics (Core i3 models have UHD Graphics integrated).
The screens on both models are Super-AMOLED with a diagonal of 13.3 inches, a ratio of 16: 9 and a resolution of Full HD. Samsung has added its own display driver to the system, which analyzes running programs and content and adjusts the screen parameters accordingly: makes the colors richer when watching videos and, conversely, switches to the most accurate color reproduction mode when processing photos.
Both models are touch capable, but the Galaxy Book Pro 360 comes with the S Pen, a touch-sensitive stylus developed using Wacom technology.
All 2021 Galaxy Book models support tight integration with Samsung smartphones, home appliances and wearable electronics. For example, Galaxy Tab tablets can be used as a second screen (expand and duplicate modes are available), and through the Smart Things app, you can control smart home appliances such as TVs, refrigerators and lighting.
Integration with smartphones occurs through “Your Phone” from Microsoft. The program allows you to synchronize the clipboard between Windows 10 and Android with the Onesie 3.0 shell, view photos and videos from the phone gallery, receive calls and messages on the computer screen, and even display up to five applications running on a mobile device in separate windows on a PC.
. Galaxy Book Odyssey with RTX 3050 and 3050 Ti will go on sale in the United States in August at a price of $ 1,400 (104.5 thousand rubles at the exchange rate).
