Easy mobilization: how mobile technologies improve business performance

The pandemic has forced businesses to seriously consider process efficiency and accelerate digital transformation. As a result, many companies have decided to move to mobile workplaces. Such a system opens up great prospects for improving the quality of customer service, saves time and optimizes resources. And as it turned out, it does not require large financial costs.

Analysts at the consulting company IDC predict that in 2020, businesses around the world will spend $ 1.3 trillion on digital transformation. This is due not only to the fact that the digital infrastructure allows you to continue working during emergencies like a lockdown, but also to the fact that it is impossible to achieve high efficiency without digital technologies.

Russian business spends from 3% to 10% of annual revenue on digitalization, experts of the Russian research company KMDA calculated. The advantages are obvious: 34% of the companies surveyed noted a reduction in labor costs when implementing digital technologies, and 30% – an increase in the efficiency of business processes. This year, another important trend has emerged: before, modern technologies were introduced into individual processes or departments, now they are trying to approach the task in a comprehensive manner.

The greatest progress in the digitization of processes in Russia has been achieved by representatives of the retail, banking, insurance and telecom markets. However, as noted by Samsung, which has developed a wide range of equipment and mobile solutions for business, even in the most advanced sectors there are several myths holding back the introduction of digital technologies, one of the most common is always long and too expensive.

We analyzed the experience of well-known Russian retail chains and FMCG manufacturers who quickly introduced mobile technologies from Samsung, and found out how to receive the most important management information online using smartphones and tablets, significantly reduce resources for personnel training, and ensure maximum protection of confidential information.

In order to implement Samsung mobile solutions, large-scale investments in infrastructure and a staff of programmers who can integrate the product into internal systems are not needed. The company “Oboe Rossi” (OR GROUP) was convinced of this. When the requirement for mandatory labeling of goods was introduced, the company needed to quickly restructure the business processes associated with goods movement. The retailer has purchased over a thousand Samsung Electronics smartphones for employees involved in logistics and accounting. The mobile profile for all devices was developed on the basis of the 1C standard solution used in the company. It took only 1.5 months to complete the project in a regular mode, and there was no need to involve external integrators.

As noted in Samsung, the speed of implementation depends to a large extent on what part of the company’s content has already been digitized. Thus, Mondelez was able to quickly transfer the data required for training and testing field employees from offline mode to online training using specially prepared tablets with relevant content. Previously, the process of training field personnel (more than 3,000 people scattered across all regions of the Russian Federation) in the company took more than two weeks and required tangible costs: renting a spacious conference room in the region, business trips of trainers who told newcomers about the standards and principles of Mondelez’s work. Since the employees occupying these positions often change, it is extremely expensive and time-consuming to conduct repeated face-to-face courses for each newcomer, as a rule, no one reads instructions and memos, and when knowledge is transferred from senior colleagues, part of the information is lost. In the new paradigm, the employee receives a Samsung tablet, on which he undergoes a distance learning course (LLS) and final testing. As a result, the training time was reduced to two days, and the level of training of field personnel increased significantly. Among the advantages of such training are interactivity and accessibility from any location. The training course includes information videos, theoretical tests and a practical part. Several channels of perception are involved at once, so the effectiveness of training is high. You can visit the website and take the course at any time, the main thing is a stable Internet connection.

In addition to speed, mobile solutions from Samsung Electronics are flexible – thanks to the openness of the Android OS and the reliability of the Samsung Knox platform, you can create unique proprietary tools. Shoes and accessories chain Kari, for example, uses a proprietary Android system to manage key processes at a retail point of sale. A comprehensive solution using Samsung equipment allows you to conduct sales operations, receive information about the availability of goods in a store and in a warehouse, pay for purchases and issue a return, as well as integrate purchase history with a loyalty program. Now, instead of the usual cash registers, there are two Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets installed at the checkout counters, with the backs facing each other. The display for employees shows data on the availability of goods, orders made in the online store and the possibility of buying in installments. On the display for buyers, in addition to information about the purchase being made, promotions and offers of the network are shown.
